Not So Secret Burger Sauce

Whether you call it fry sauce, burger sauce, secret sauce, mac sauce, or any other name, this will definitely be your go to condiment. This “Not So Secret” Burger Sauce recipe from my book Craveable Keto is delicious on just about everything – burgers, hot dogs, as a salad dressing, as a dip, you name it. It is creamy, flavorful and crazy easy to make with just 5 ingredients and less that 5 minutes.

Ingredient Notes

  • Mayonnaise: The mayo gives this burger sauce recipe a creamy, silky texture. You can use store-bought, or you can make it from scratch. Check out my Easy Peasy 2-Minute Mayo Recipe.
  • Ketchup: To keep this lower in carbs, look for a natural ketchup, or a reduced sugar ketchup. (This is the one that I use). Alternatively, you can use tomato paste.
  • Worcestershire sauce: Worcestershire adds a nice kick of umami to this burger sauce. You could also use coconut aminos or soy sauce.
  • Garlic: For this recipe, I used fresh garlic, but you can also use dried minced garlic, or garlic powder.
  • Dijon mustard: If you do not have any Dijon mustard on hand, you could also use yellow mustard, sweet hot mustard, or stone ground mustard.
  • Sriracha: This gives the burger sauce a nice kick. If you do not have sriracha, you can substitute chili paste or hot sauce.

How to make burger sauce

STEP 1: In a mixing bowl, whisk all of the ingredients together until well combined. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Recipe Tips and Variations

  • Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks (be sure to check the expiration dates on the condiments you use.)
  • Make Thousand Island Dressing: Omit the sriracha and add some chopped up dill pickles or dill pickle relish to make a delicious keto Thousand Island dressing.
  • Add onion: This is also delicious with a teaspoon of dried minced onion or ½ teaspoon of onion powder.
  • Add pickles: I love to make this burger sauce recipe with some chopped dill pickles and about a teaspoon of the pickle juice. Think Big Mac sauce – YUM!
  • Add paprika: to add a nice smoky flavor, try adding a little smoked paprika

What is a good substitution for ketchup?

If you do not have ketchup, you can substitute tomato paste in this burger sauce recipe.

How long do homemade condiments keep in the fridge?

Store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to 2 weeks. However, be sure to check the expiration date on the store-bought condiments you use to make the homemade recipe.
